Should I withhold tax?

I’m buying an existing business franchise. This business gets an annual bonus if the owners can hit their target numbers, etc. Part of the agreement I have with the current owners is that the bonus earned for 2008 will go to them when it is paid to me in 2009.
When the bonus is paid to me in 2009, do I need to withhold a portion of it to cover the taxes or can I deduct the entire bonus and pass the tax liability from the bonus to the sellers?
xtra-

The buyer (me) and the seller are both S-Corporations. Whether the seller dissolves their S-Corporation after I buy the business I don’t know. We have a clause in our purchase agreement that the 2008 bonus will go to them when it is paid to me. We didn’t specify how it will be handled.

If a 1099-MISC is not needed, how do I deduct it? How do I classify it?

I am sure my student loan consolidator made a mistake and the total is more than i should owe,?

I consolidated my loans when I was still going to school about four years ago i consolidated three times with the same company, i was looking at my records on the nsds and im sure a mistake was made between the first and second consolidation, as suddenly there is a difference of more than five thousand dollars between my actual loans, and the consolidation total-and 90% of my loans were subsidized, so interest couldn’t account for five thousand dollars. after that second one, my loans got consolidated one more time, now my loans are being held with yet a different company, and this company just tells me they have nothing to do with it, i need to take it up with the company that reconsolidated, i don’t feel that’s my responsibility, for one thing-and what good would it do anyway? If the company who has the loan now doesn’t want to check it’s history and seems happy to hold me accountable, is there any kind of law or some process I can initiate on my own, that would determine liability

Should I Cancel my Cellular Service?

I am a 22 year old new PhD student and I am more than feeling the pinch in my purse. I had previously been working full time and still have loads of bills to keep up with. I am on a fellowship earning $30k a year (tuition and health insurance is paid for me as well), but I am having a really hard time.

Per month (major responsibilities):
~$360 in CC bills (3 cards)
$306.05 car payment + ~$70 Geico insurance
$675 rent + ~$175 utilities
$90 cell phone

I’m thinking of suspending my cellular phone service because it seems to be an easy bill to get rid of. I am not actually under contract right now so I can cancel with no problem, but would like to continue service at some point. T-mobile says I can suspend up to 18 months with no maintenance fee. Is it worth it to free up some money to contribute to paying down the CCs?

I would love to try to consolidate, but unfortunately, even though I have never been a single day late on ANYTHING (credit score ~700), I am unable to get a consolidation loan without a guarantor. Problem is, I do not know anyone who has good enough credit that would be willing to cosign. On top of that, I am not eligible to receive any school loans due to the fellowship that I have.

My Plan:

-myFaves 600 plan $49.99
-Unlimited Domestic Messages (including pics) $9.99
-HotSpot@Home Add-on (get to talk anywhere there is a wireless connection for free…instead of using cellular towers) $9.99

Total Due Monthly (excluding taxes) $69.97

I don’t think I can get a better deal than this….
I have 3 CCs because 1 was supposed to be my main card (CL: ~$10,000). And yes, I have basically used up all the credit because I lost my job as a lab tech and I had to live off of it for a few months. I did have ~$6000 in savings at the time, but that went very quickly especially because I had to move and pay $2000 fee right there just for breaking my lease.

I applied for the 2nd card and planned to transfer everything onto that to save on interest. Unfortunately, I was only approved for a $2500 CL on that one. Then, a couple of years later, I applied for a 3rd in the hopes of consolidating the other two, and I only have a $2600 CL so can’t do much with that as far as consolidation.
MyFaves is not a tool to help me recall certain phone numbers quickly. With that feature, I am able to talk to 5 people with unlimited usage of minutes. This means that talking to these people does not count toward my 600/month limit.

Should I co-sign a loan with my mom?

My mom wants to apply for a debt consolidation loan but has bad credit. My 2 brothers, sister, & brother’s friend live with her in a house. I rent an apartment with my bf. I’m the only one in my family who has good credit, so my mom wants me to co-sign a loan with her. My mom is a widow & has no one else to ask. She has me pegged as her last hope.

The thing is I’m still in my twenties and have intentions of returning to school, marrying, & buying a house in the future. If she defaults on her loan payments, which I’ve heard occurs very often in instances where there’s a co-borrower, then I am liable for the loan. It’ll hurt MY credit!

My bf has even told me that if I co-sign this loan, he won’t marry me because, as my spouse, he’d be indirectly responsible for her loan too.

If I don’t co-sign, she’ll lose the house. I told her to sell & move but she’s stubborn. I suggested bankruptcy but she says it’ll be bad for her job status ’cause she’s a public employee. What should I do???
All of my siblings & my brother’s friend are over 18. Brother 1 recently lost his job. Brother 2 is paying $1200/mo for rent. Sister is a full-time student & will be moving out with her bf soon. Brother’s friend pays $150/mo for rent, which needs to increase because he’s practically get a free ride! My mom is scared of Brother 1 & his friend because they’re ill-tempered & are domineering. After all of that, they’re still short $1800.

Thank you SO much to everyone who has provided an answer! You’ve been very helpful!
