Slow Network! Solutions?
I’m doing a research paper about the network of my university.
The network is extremely slow, and I’m trying to find solutions and suggestions to improve the performance, speed ad security of the network.
Any suggestions are more than welcome.
I know that the network is slow because everybody uses it on campus at the same time and a lot of people download huge files.
What can be done to improve the speed of the network even when a large number of people are using it?

check speed of PC then ram then LAN card 10MB/s or 100MB/s or 1000MB/s then check your switch or router speed

Depending on the size and composition of the network, you could..
Replace any hubs with switches
Divide the network up into Virtual LANS (using layer-3 switches)
Check the speed and duplex settings
Check for collisions/late collisions
Check cable quality and lengths
Make sure that everyone has their own unique logon
check that file access rights are given only to people that require them
And many, many, more

Are you in a dorm-room? It sounds like everyone is on at the same time at your campus. When this happens you get most people in your dorm room or computer lab downloading or playing video games this makes the network slow. My advice to you is if you have a friend off campus go to their house and use their internet.
