I prefer Colibri of London, 3.04 oz. size containers for two primary reasons: (1) The compact size. I use them to refil my fire-place and candle lighters (although the re-fill variety are hard to find now, thus forcing you to buy a new one each time it runs out of Butane…Grrr!) and to refil my Colibri lighter. Those big cans are so cumberson and awkward to handle, particularly when attempting to fill a cigarette or pipe lighter. You can easily keep one in the glove compartment, or even in a jacket pocket with ease. And they are easy to handle, particularly if one is plagued with arthritis.

    (2) I spent considerable time over a few weeks shopping around town for these small size containers, and finally found them on old faithful Amazon.com. With Amazon the fast delivery time is almost always a “shoe-in.” I am often amazed at how fast my ordered product arrives at my door.

I highly recommend Colibri Butane refill containers in the 3.04 oz size, and that you don’t waste time and fuel driving around town looking for a supplier, but buy a six-pack from Amazon.com.

I thought this was a good fuel until I tried a popular quintuple-refined fuel (The Colibri is triple-refined).

Even after completely purging my cigar lighters and refilling I had trouble with this fuel. It almost never lit right away.

Waving my lit lighters back and forth in the air to test how well the fuel burned resulted in the lighters going out on the first or second wave. Trying this with the quintuple fuel resulted in the lighters staying lit even after rigorous waving. Also, the lighters lit the first time every time.

This fuel works (barely) and is widely available and easier to get than the better fuels, but you’d be better off buying something better here off of the Internet.
