Although I purchased my first of these torches at a local Harbor Freight, I thought a review could help explain to others how durable and good of a butane micro torch this really is.
First off, this thing is a decent sized one, so firmly gripping it, its about twice as tall as your hand, very sturdy base to keep it from tipping over, and push button ignition makes it fun and easy to get burning/soldering/etc.
It has a very long run time if you use it for brief period, and will last out a good 15 min soldering session quite easily. The flame adjustment knob is responsive and rarely has to be turned past half way to get the job done, along with the fuel/air mixture adjuster [which I have completely removed to get the best flame] is rather convenient.
A few bad things would be the relatively short life span of the piezo ignitor. Mine gave out after a few months of very aggressive use [10-40 ignitions per day on average, about 4 days per week]. But it is still easy to ignite with a lighter or match, and mine still works, going on almost 5 years…
This product is *very* durable, mine has fallen countless times from above 3 feet off the ground, been engulfed in flames, subjected to cold and hot environments, moisture/complete submersion in water, dirt/dust/sand, solder, and is still running strong. I use it for various uses, from pyrotechnical experiments to soldering and even melting objects. If you want a small torch that delivers, this is it! Buy two!
