Do you think that it is a good time to start a store front business?
I am interested in starting a franchise fitness business that helps women who are over weight achieve their weight loss goals and includes a food program and support. However, I am nervous because the economy is so bad and I fear that I could lose my shirt with this endeavor. What do you think?
Or, I also have the chance to purchase a Children’s Gym. I am trying to figure out what would be the most lucrative to purchase. Both businesses are franchises. The first is a start-up frnachise and there is nothing like it in my area but seems to be doing well throughout the U.S.A.. If I purchase the The Children’s Gym I would be purchasing from someone who wants to sell but there is a small profit being made but a very high monthly overhead.
I would love some feedback from anyone with some knowledge about the economy and what they feel is best to do at this point. Do you feel that I should do nothing and hold on to my money or go ahead and buy a franchise. Which one?

Any new business venture is a little scary at first, but I would go with the start-up franchise since it has a proven track record……GOOD LUCK…

Storefronts are one of the first buisnesses robbed, keep that in mind.
Keep a gun handy and know how to use it.

You must have a business. In starting a business better have some survey about gym. Better know what they (people around the place of the gym) prefer. It will help a lot. ^^ or if there’s a school near your designated place it is better to ask them for your survey. Just ask what they prefer.

well, some of the most famous and successful businesses started in bad economic times (i read this in Inc. magazine) but before you start read some books and magazines(i mentioned a good one Inc.) and then make the decision for yourself because its all up to you. starting a business is hard and you have to stick with it to succeed you will need a strong and positive attitude to pull it off, it also helps if you have some emotional support from family and friends. What education training have you had? Have you worked in a Gym before? Do you like kids? Where are you located? If you are in a city or the country side?
These are the type of questions among many that must be answered before you make a decision.
Personally, the economy is having a bad time because of high gasoline prices. Since people must drive to the Gym in rural areas it will cost them more. So they are less likely to come and go to the Gym. Therefore your business will suffer. I currently live in a place where people love gyms. a college boom town or a city is a great place to own a gym. If the building is easy to access. How cheep it is to run it. How many workers you will need. What is the membership cost and fees. There is so much you need to consider. But if you have the money, and this is your dream. I say go for it. America is overweight in general. It would be great to add a gym to any community. That is if you can get people to join up. You might need a smart business partner to help you run the place. If it’s a franchise don’t worry about the design that’s taken care of. Since you have money and you want your own business. A gym would be a great start. But don’t worry if you don’t make lots of money the first year. Most business that are small don’t make money the first year. As soon as they are established and word of mouth comes through you will be wealthy.

any season is a good day to set up a business… it just a matter of perspective and outlook in life… have positive mind and do whatever it takes and you’ll be successful
