Anyone notice how different this new James Bond franchise is?

First off, these past couple of Bond flicks with Daniel Craig have been back-to-back sequels, which is completely unprecedented seeing as no Bond film has been a “sequel” in the sense that one truly relies on the other. Moreover, there’s an acute lack of gadgetry and sheer unrealistic coolness (one might call it campy-ness) in these films. Do you think it’s a change for the better or worse?

Your right. I have seen changes. And I don’t like the new James Bond I think they could’ve chosen some one else. :)

I think the idea is that they appeal to the younger generation of the time. The Bond movie you see today will be something that you can relate to if you are a young adult. It features sexy women dressed in the world fashions of the day and fads that are popular. It really is just about fun, fashion and action. They seem to be doing well.

thats the point they were trying to relaunch the franchise and the films are doing well as a result, however i now think they have gone to far away from what makes bond bond. but lets see what happens . to me my friend said this and i agree you watch a bond movie and it could easily be a bourne movie if you put matt damon in it

The plots and villians are more down to earth. I thought Casino Royale was great in that it rebooted the franchise like how Batman Begins did the Batman franchise. I just saw Quantum and although it was action packed , I didnt quite like it. Probably I need to see it again anyways.
I do think the success of the Bourne Identity has given Bond a real challenge. The audience wants more grit and street violence.

It does seem un like the bond films yes but original? No not even a little bit, I mean I’ve all ready seen the Jason Bourne movies so its actually kind of a copy.

How you say? well Jason Bourne seeking revenge for having his lover killed by a super secret organization for one. Oh that’s right Daniel Bond is motivated by Duty not revenge. Of cores they are different. How silly of me.

I like the grittiness of the new James Bond. The smooth, suave tone is best when Sean Connery was playing him. The others were just a dumb down version, including Pierce Brosnan.
