Anyone here ever have their freon stolen from their Air Conditioner?
I live in a large condo complex and have central heat/air, and a couple of days I came home and I saw these guys leave in a truck and they had just gotten off the roof with a ladder and now my air conditioning does not cool. It was working perfectly before I saw them. I suspected that it happened before as well. I looked up online and saw that people steal it to huff (inhale it or sell it). Has anyone heard about this? what should I do?

I did call the police and they said that I have to notify the property mgmt company and they acted like this must be the absolute lowest priority!

You are correct….people…especially teenagers will steal freon to inhale…..Watch for them and report it to the police…They cannot reuse it in another air unit, so they are likey just inhaling it to get high.
Call an A/C service company…they can add more freon for little or no charge, but if youre in an Apartment, just notify your property manager.

to take freon you need the device to recover it as in when there is repairer’s to be made they recover the freon into a holding and its illegal to discharge freon into the atmosphere willingly are you shure you don’t have a freon leak I have never heard of theft of freon

huff freon? are you crazy, dude take one little huff of that and your lungs will freeze up and you will kill over, theres no POSSIBLE way to take in freon by means of huffing without dying, youd have to be a crazy druggy to figure that out, might have stolen it to use or sell maybe, but if they did, then well they could be locked up for a long time. huffing freon! ha!
